Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced Edition, a remake of the classic western Role Playing Game Baldur?s Gate, will be finally available at the end of the month but it seems like developer Overhaul Games won?t be getting much rest: once Baldur?s Gate remake is out, they?ll start working on the sequel?s remake.
Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced Edition was developed by a subsidiary of Beamdog, the aforementioned Overhaul Games, which includes many Bioware former employees. The release includes the remastered versions of both Baldur?s Gate and its expansion Tales of the Sword Coast. It?s not a simple remake since there?s going to be many tweakings and additions, extra downloadable content and the ability to mod the game: major changes include gameplay based on the 2nd Edition Dungeons and Dragons, higher resolutions and different view modes, new challenging extra quests, new level cap, new party members and classes. The general plot will stay the same but new sidequests will help close some substories left unfinished in the original game.
Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced edition will be available on November 28 for PC, Mac, iOS and Android: the iOS version won?t support Iphones for now, but the team states that they already have a working version for Apple?s Smartphone but it needs some serious adjustments for the interface.
Baldur?s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will feature the main game and the expansion Throne of Baal: the team is aiming for a Summer release in 2013.
